Tomodachi Islands (known as Tomodachi Collection: New Islands in Japan) is the 3rd installment of the Tomodachi series and a sequel to Tomodachi Life. It was released on the 3DS worldwide on May 1, 2020. It is similar to its predecessor but also includes new features. The game also has amiibo compatibility, and certain amiibos unlock special items. Note
- If you purchased the digital version of Tomodachi Life, there is no need to apply the Ver. 1.1 software update.
- Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
- After downloading the update, please do not delete the update data. Update data can be viewed in the Downloadable Content area of the Data Management menu.
Complete these steps
- Perform a system update to ensure that you have the most up-to-date version.
- Scan the QR Code pattern below using a Nintendo 3DS system while connected to the Internet.
- Alternatively, you can download the update from the Nintendo 3DS HOME menu.
- Select the Tomodachi Life Update and download it. Once the download is complete, the update will automatically be applied.
- Once the update is installed, the newest version number will be displayed on the title screen.

Translation Status:
- Most of the important stuff that you need to play the game are translated.
What are NOT fully translated:
- Job descriptions. I just blanked them out.
- Mii News. Only about half of them were translated but that should cover all the important news.
- Songs. Some translated text in the lyric might be cut off in the middle but it will show up in full when you select it.
