TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima provides career support to high school women living in Fukushima prefecture who are in their junior year. Through special sessions with students who have studied abroad and professional women, the program explains the many options that high school women have for the future which will hopefully lead to development of leaders in the Fukushima prefecture.

Tomodachi Life is a stage in Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, based on the game of the same name. It was confirmed on March 14th, 2014.

From August 8 to 11, 2019, STEP 1 of the TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2019 supported by the TOMODACHI Combini Fund, titled “Dance Workshop with the Young Americans,” took place in Tokyo, attended by 123 high school women.The first day of STEP 1 consisted of an opening session, followed by a team-building exercise in which the participants played games to break the ice, overcome their nerves, and get acquainted with one another. Step 2 Session with Foreign Exchanges Students Studying in Japan

On October 27 and 28, 2019, STEP 2 of the TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2019, supported by the TOMODACHI Combini Fund, took place in Fukushima Prefecture. As part of STEP 2, themed “challenge,” participants met with 20 foreign exchange students from 11 different countries, including the United States, who are currently studying in Japan. The foreign exchange students, having worked to overcome hardships and consider their dreams and career plans as they study abroad, shared their personal experiences and stories with the participants. Step 3 Session with Global Career Women

From December 14 to 15, 2019, STEP3 of the TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2019 supported by the TOMODACHI Combini Fund was held at the National Olympic Memorial Youth Center in Yoyogi, Tokyo. This year, the participating high school students met with 19 female employees representing seven Seven companies (Kikkoman Corporation, All-Nippon Airways Co., Ltd., Pasona Inc., FamilyMart Co., Ltd., Fukoku Mutual Life Insurance Company, Mizuho Bank, Ltd., and Lawson, Inc.), as well as three TOMODACHI staff members. Step 4 Career Event for High School Freshmen

The TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2019 supported by the TOMODACHI Combini Fund STEP 4, took place at Higashi Nippon International University’s Kamata Campus in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture from February 1 to 2, 2020. On the first day, participants shared the lessons they learned from STEPs 1 through 3 and discussed messages, such as their future goals, that they hoped to present to female high school freshman students the following day. STEP 2 of the TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2018, supported by the TOMODACHI Combini Fund took place on October 27 and 28, 2018 in Fukushima Prefecture. As part of STEP 2, themed “challenge,” the participants met with 20 foreign exchange students studying in Japan from 11 countries, including the United States. The foreign exchange students, who worked hard to surmount difficulties such as strong family opposition or a lack of financial means while they were studying abroad, share the own life stories to the participants. Step 4 Career Event for High School Freshmen

On February 3, 2019, KIKKAKE LIVE (“An Opportunity to Make Oneself and Make a Future: LIVE”) took place at Higashi Nippon International University’s Kamata Campus, where the participants presented their half-a-year’s worth of learning to female freshmen students. Information about the event was sent via social media, drawing 121 female freshman attendees. Read More>>

Step 1 Dance Workshop with the Young Americans

From August 14 to August 17, 2017, Step 1 of the TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2017, entitled “Dance Workshop with The Young Americans,” took place in Tokyo. In the four days that composed Step 1 of the program, the participants learned the importance of creating something with a group, opening themselves up to new challenges, and trusting teammates. As part of the Step 2 themed “challenge,” the participants met with 20 foreign exchange students studying in Japan from 13 countries, including the United States. The foreign exchange students worked together with university student mentors to present their dreams and career goals, convey what led them to their decision to study abroad in Japan, and describe the challenges that they overcame in order to study abroad. Step 4 Career Event for High School Freshmen

On the second day, the KIKKAKE LIVE (“An Opportunity to Making Oneself and to Making a Future: LIVE”) took place at Higashi Nippon International University’s Kamata Campus. For this event, the participants in the second year of high school held an orientation session. By sending the event information via SNS, 129 female freshman students attended, which was a record breaking number since the program was launched four years ago. Read More>>

TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2016

Step 1 Dance Workshop with the Young Americans

From August 18-21, 2016 about 120 sophomore girls from high schools throughout Fukushima Prefecture and 20 mentors joined the opening session designed to build a foundation for next six months.
They participated in an hour-long song and dance workshop choreographed by the Young Americans. Through the use of English and the universal language of music, the participants were able to open up their hearts and lives while building lasting bonds of friendship. Read More>>

From October 29-30, 2016, participants will meet with exchange students from all over Europe, America, and Asia to discuss topics such as why they chose to study in Japan, what career dreams they have, and their struggles to get to where they are at. Everybody listens to the students’ stories of not settling for their current lot and continuing to strive with a spirit of leaping out into the world, and learns to find similarities and differences between Japan and other countries. From December 17-18, 2016, the students took part in a session with globally active working career women who are partnered with TOMODACHI. Not only did they discuss careers, but the many life decisions that the women made in their high school years, college careers, marriage, and raising children. From January 28-29, 2017, the high school students will present what they learned through previous sessions. As a team they will think about what they gained through their activities and how each person plans to utilize their experience for the future. They will then plan a lecture for high school freshmen. From August 22-24, 2014 about 120 sophomore girls from high schools throughout Fukushima Prefecture joined together with Young Americans to choreograph an hour long song and dance performance. Through the universal channels of English and music everybody was able to open up their hearts and lives and build lasting bonds of friendship.
